Yosemite Elopement
Yosemite Elopement At Sunrise

When we think of an adventurous wedding, certain things come to mind: a flight, an outdoor venue, and a beautiful sunset. Carol and Alex redefined those ideas for us. When they contacted us about the potential for a Yosemite elopement, we knew they were our people. Carol shared her vision with us, and as a photographer herself she immediately inspired us. She wanted to begin at sunrise, and if you’ve read our Road Trip blog post, you know we love sunrises. For his part, Alex enthusiastically supported all of Carol’s ideas. Their playful energy together helped us all through the 3:30am wakeup and the many challenges of the day. We arrived to find Glacier Point Road closed due to one of the four fires raging in the park. When we attempted the Four Mile Hike to Glacier Point, Carol’s asthma flared up due to the smoke. Despite all our plans changing, Carol & Alex stayed positive and decided to enjoy their elopement. We saw in this experience a microcosm of marriage. We go in on a high, with such lofty expectations, and it never unfolds exactly as we think. Unforeseen challenges test us, and we must decide to navigate with grace and love. Carol & Alex’s Yosemite elopement reminded us beautifully that we choose to love one another and ourselves.

To Carol & Alex:

Guys, we cannot express enough gratitude for your trust in us to capture your Yosemite elopement. We feel like we’ve taken some of your adventurous energy home with us. Your relationship is a beautiful balance of rational and crazy, fun and getting things done. You impressed us time and again, from the original idea to the way you handled the smoke, to spotting the moon when we thought we had finished. We loved hearing about your family traditions with the full moon! We still can’t believe that we caught the full moon on the DAY of your Yosemite elopement. What are the chances?! You guys have made an impact on us with your lightheartedness, and we feel proud to call you our friends. Now move out west already!
